Are You Living With a Purpose?
If you were to buy a scratch off lottery today, what would your first intention be?
More than likely, you would want to win the lotto, right? So much so, that you would kiss your ticket like it’s been a while since you’ve seen your dog. Aww… Why, that is so sweet!
Then you find that kissing your dog doesn’t really help you win the lottery. But you still love your dog anyways.
And your intention of winning is still there.
There is something important going on here. If you have this intention of winning the lottery, why can the same feeling and energy be applied elsewhere?
So what if that all changed? You suddenly feel so hyped about everything that you’ll want to kiss your dog, cat, turtle, or anything!
Or maybe you’re not into kissing animals
But my point here is, do you find yourself going through life with intentions and hype? Or are you just going through the motion?
Tell me if this sounds like you. You drive to school because you have to learn. You eat because you’re simply hungry or bored. You put on clothes just so you have something on.
But… What if there was a purpose behind everything? You’re aware of doing it for a greater reason.
Friends, readers, drop out students, CEO’s of Fortune 500, and anyone else who lands on this post; it’s time to live your life with intentions. It’s time to do things with feelings behind it.
So you want me to cry when I drop my kids off to school? Or scream in pain when I get a paper cut?
It doesn’t have to be that extreme! But if you insist on doing so, I can’t stop you because that would defeat the purpose of my point.
But I am living my life with that one intention
Does that one intention involve waiting for that big luck of opportunity to happen? Where you get that huge promotion or some crazy, extravaganza experience, and your whole life changes forever and you live happily ever after?!
Heck, if you’re really like me, you’ll believe that someone special will come ringing at your doorbell, asking you to have a hot passionate life together (preferably a hot looking model too).
Oh joy! Screw this post! What am I writing this post for!
Actually… Sorry to ruin your dreams…
But this isn’t some prince charming Disney movie. Princesses don’t fall in love with toads, and neither will something like that happen to you or me.
(Well maybe it’ll happen to me because I’m special)
(it’s a joke)
So you don’t do anything. You just sit around, waiting, and waiting… And waiting.
Well, that’s not the kind of intentional life I’m talking about.
The intentional life I’m talking about is where you are aware of doing something because it serves a purpose. It’s where you gain consciousness or positive energy in doing it. More importantly, you aren’t waiting.
You’re more ambient.
You’re more excited.
You’re more happy!
You’re more motivated!
Holy crap, did I just make you wet your pants?
So how the heck can I start living like this?! TELL ME NOW!
Calm down cowboy. Or cowgirl.
You need to do everything as if it has a purpose. For instance, I am typing this post as if I am about to submit it to the President of The United States because he could learn a few things from me.
I have the feeling that he’ll like it so much that he’ll come and visit me. Then I’ll shake hand and it’ll all be on national television! I will be famous this way!! I guarantee it!!!
Oh boy, now I just wet myself in the pants…
Call me crazy, call me a lunatic. Call me whatever you want. The most successful people overthink their own success, and it helps them every single time.
You need to overthink your mission. You need to believe that what you do is for the greater purpose.
So maybe the President of the United States won’t visit me from reading this post. Maybe he won’t even read this post… Maybe this post may not even be read by anyone…
Well… Now I am just sad.
But in all seriousness, don’t think ‘maybe’.
Think as if you have a higher duty.
Don’t think that washing dishes for your family has a meaning? Then learn to think that you’re doing a huge favor by showing them that you love them.
Don’t think that going out in public and dressing nice have a purpose? Then just think to yourself that you’re dressed nice to meet the love of your life for the first time.
Make up an intention. Pretend it will happen. Or even believe that it will happen. If you do it, you will find yourself doing things with greater results and with meanings.
Even if your intentions are of this realm, you’re better off “living” life than just going through the motion.
